Stuck in School

Remember how excited teachers got
When they teach you something and it comes up later while they're teaching something else?
Remember how they complimented your work
Even if you knew it was no better than satisfactory?
Remember how they made you sing fraction and Spanish songs
Even though they were extremely cheesy and embarrassing?
It makes you think that teachers are always happy
They're always full of energy and happiness
But have you ever seen a teacher out of school
Shopping at the local grocery store
Do you see her getting overly excited about finding the amount of taxes on milk?
Do you see him complimenting his slutty teenage daughter?
Do you see her singing to her baby to make him stop crying?
No, you don't.
Because life isn't school
It's not about dividing fractions
It's not about knowing the causes to the plague
Who cares about what elements make water?
Life isn't about straight A's
It's not about what you learn in school
But by watching those ecstatic teachers
Yell at their newborn child
It makes you wish it were
You need to understand love, pain, and forgiveness
But you're stuck in school
